Oblivion Goes Medieval - OGM
A German modification far away from the usual fantasy cliché

Quote
North-France, 1189: The King reigns with an iron hand, the church wants to preserve its own interests and outlaws wander through the country. Life is calm in St. Michel, while Paris is full of crime, murder and violation. Le Havre, Les Mains and Caen emulate Paris as their rulers also seek more power and wealth.
The traders and craftsmen in the towns are rich and enjoy life, but the farmers out on the fields have to struggle for life every day. The nobility and the clergy exploit the farmers so that hundreds of them die of hunger every year.
Scores of noblemen wage wars against each other, leaving the king powerless.
Pretended witches are tortured in dungeons to end up on the stake for public amusement. These executions are a special attraction with most of the urban population being present to follow the spectacle. Afterwards, the people have a market on location, as if nothing had happened. If someone objected that these executions were wrong, he would be the next one to find himself on the stake. In the dark middle-ages of North-France, only the strongest and most devious persons survive.

FAQ

Question: Is OGM going to be a TC?
Answer: No, not for the time being. A TC would be too extensive.

Question: Do I nee any official add-ons like Shivering Isles or Knights of the Nine?
Answer: No, Shivering Isles has hardly any useful Items for us, as well as Knights of the Nine. On top of that, not every player of Oblivion has got these add-ons.

Question: How big is the world of OGM and how is it built?
Answer: The world has about 3/4 the size of Cyrodiil, but there will be less dungeons. As the world is so big, some parts of the flora will be generated automatically. These regions will be changed by hand afterwards to make them more exciting and various than Oblivion-Vanilla.

Question: Which elements of Oblivion will be missing in OGM?
Answer: At first, all the fantasy elements: Oblivion-gates, Daedra and any other fantasy creatures, as well as Ayleid ruins.
And the most important modifications: you won’t be able to cast any spells in the mod. Fast travelling will also disappear in the world of OGM.

Question: What about the balancing?
Answer: The balancing will be adapted to ROO 3, as many players use this mod.
Nevertheless, OGM will be entirely compatible with the normal Oblivion version..

Question: Will there be an English version of OGM?
Answer: We are not sure yet, it depends on the popularity of the German mod. But we aren’t reluctant to making an English version afterwards.

This is like HRM, they have few people working on an audacious project. As a fan of the TotalWar series, I would really like to see this succeed. I, unfortunately, also do not know how to help, but wish you the best of luck. I have a few questions, though. Will there be mass battles? For examlple, the ruler of Caen decides to overthrow the rule of the French government and you are incorporated into the battle as a 'quest' of sorts. Will you be creating new models for weapons (i.e. pikes, spears, etc.), trees, buildings or others, or will you just modify vanilla Oblivion models? And lastly, when do you expect it to be done?  Grin

Well, lots of question, but I'm giving my best to answer them entirely  Grin
At first, thanks, Jeremy for your proposition, I'm sure we will come back to that when the mod's finished  Cheesy

Now to your questions, Fugu23:
Mass battle, that's a bit difficult with the Oblivion Engine, as you need enough hardware to only watch a battle like that without only seeing single images wandering on the screen  Smiley And most of the Oblivion-players don't have enough hardware to enjoy such a mass battle...
New meshes and textures for weapons will surely be integrated in the mod, as well as new textures for the buildings and maybe also new tree textures.
And I'm sorry, but I can't say anything about the date of release, because we don't know it yet. We've just started and it may take 3 Months, half a year or maybe 2 years...  Undecided let's hope and prey that it will work quickly  Grin
