Sheogorath, Lord Sheogorath, Mad God, Prince of Madness, he has many titles. I think that Sheogorath is the most insane character in Oblivion, yes, in both senses. Especially favoured are his quotes, which all have meanings, no matter how obscure. "Yes? I'm he. He's me! And others... as well..." Referrence to Jyggalag. "Oh, New Sheoth! My home away from places that aren't my home!" Makes sense, when you think about it. "Happens every time, you know, I can never remember where New Sheoth goes..." "I even filled a trench with clouds. Or was it clowns? Ah, doesn't matter, it didn't slow him down. Made a heck of a stench, too. Oh! Must have been clowns! Clouds don't smell! They taste of butter, and tears." "Ta Ta, come visit again, or i'll pluck out your eyes! HA HA HA HAHA!!" I have devoted this topic to understanding the best of the Sheogorath quotes or anything Shivering Isles. So, can I have yours? Sincerely, Fugu

I blocked the school's IP so only the smart ones can get through. It works, and if I proxy I can still get into the actual forums. Should quiet Sky down a little. If he happens to post anything, just ignore and delete. "Time. Time is a fabrication. Time is a theory based on the idea that events occur in a linear motion at all times. Always forward, never back. Just the human mind attempting to classify the world around it..."

Something I found out yesterday is this: You know the tree where you get the wood for the Staff of Sheogorath in the main quest (sry 4 the spoiler)? You know how there's a murmur of voices coming from it? Well, I think one of them says, "I am Sheogorath." Any ideas what that's about?

Come on people, these are the betterOBLIVION forums, you could at least talk about it sometimes. I think I figured it out anyways. I think it means that you have to take the wood from the tree to become Sheogorath. In other words, the tree is showing you your future, who you really are, which is what it's supposed to do (according to that guy in the library). See what I mean? This sort of stuff is everywhere in Tamriel and Oblivion, you just have to look for them. Next mystery, why are there mortal inhabitants of the realm? I have my theories, what are yours?

Nothing? Fine, I'll answer this one too. Since Daedra are immortal and all-knowing, they can't actually be insane. Sheogorath brings mortals to his realm to muddle their minds. But they shouldn't be there since the barriers to Oblivion are closed. Jauffre said so himself. Portals that stable shouldn't exist! Bethesda's contradicting themselves again...

I have a question in Shivering Isles: A little town called Split, what does it mean in Croatian language?

BINGO!!! DING, DING, DING YOU WON NOTHING You're supposed to say "DING DING DING! Klupps, give the man a prize!" And if you well and truly wanted to seem the lunatic you would have added this: "But we don't 'ave anyfing to give 'im sir!" "You said we don't have anything? Well that must mean we have something!" "Nah sir, I mean we don't have anyfing or sumfing to give 'im." "Well, I'm terribly sorry young man, but I'm afraid you'll have to walk away with nothing. Now run along, go and play your childhood games." By the way, did anyone beat Sheogorath's Shrine quest? BEST ENDING EVER!

I forgot where I read it, but there's a story about a scholar who wants to learn the secrets of the power of the Daedra. He goes to Sheogorath's Palace, and talks to the Mad God. Setting aside his gifts, Sheogorath says he'll teach him all he knows if he can go one week in his realm without going insane. If he loses, then the scholar has to become his servant. The scholar agrees, and Sheogorath dissappears, and all the doors of the palace with it. He wanders the halls, and starts to jump at anything, expecting Sheogorath's tricks to drive him insane. By the end, he's completely mad. Sheogorath appears in front of him, he screams and shouts out that it has to be a trick. Sheogorath laughs, and says, "I didn't do anything, lad. You drove yourself insane with your own petty thoughts. Time's up, and you lose, your tiny mortal mind wouldn't have been able to handle my knowledge anyways..." They say the line between genius and insanity is thin. Is there a line at all? Something to think about. Fugu
