*************
Introduction
*************

For most of you, you have never, never ever laid eyes on an Ayleid Statue of the Ten Ancestors. Those of you that have, were proboably delving the depths of the Ayleid ruin of Vilverin (the first ruin you see when you start the game), and never ever found one again. You may be happy to know that there is a quest for them, similar to the Shadowbanish Wine quest. In Umbacano Manor, when you find the first one in Vilverin, you can tell the butler and he'll show you to Umbacano. He'll tell you that it's one of the Ten Ancestors, historical stuff, and then ask you to sell it to him for 500 gold. Personally, these are waaaaaaaaay too rare artefacts to sell for 500 gold. (Tip, if you feel naughty, you can sell the statues to him and then steal them back later as part of a side quest for a theif) These statues are very hard to find in the Ayleid ruins themselves, let alone finding the ruin. This guide will tell you about where and how to find these magnificent statues and plus some other Ayleid artefacts to do with the quest.

Hints and Tips
for those who don't want to "cheat"
***********************************

For finding Ayleid Statues/ finding locations of any kind, these are my rules.
1. Keep a close eye on the compass as well as the horizon.
2. Pan the compass left and right 45 degrees fairly often to avoid missing anything. i.e. if you're heading N, turn to NW and NE and then back to the N.
3. Search in pockets, i.e. the section between the Panther and Strid Rivers.
4. When climbing mountains, always try to turn back to your original heading after climbing sideways to find a way up.
5. If given the liberty, don't skip anything, you may need to go back to it in a later quest.
6. When looking for the statues, look in ruins that have 2 or more sublevels I.E. Moranda >Edesel<
7. When looking for the statues, look in isolated areas, I.E. the middle of the Great Forest, the Valus Mountains etc.
8. This goes without saying, but look out for traps.

Note: If anyone knows Ayleidic or Old Cyrodillic or whatever the Ayleids speak, it would be much appreciated if you could send me a dictionary or something of the like. the only words I know are "sel" "Daedra" and "Aedra" and I think sel means room or chamber.

What you'll need
******************

You will need:

-Lots of picks, or unlock spells
-Damn good armor and weaponry (Either magic or silver/daedric) tip: if you don't like running out of soul gems, use a depleted magic melee weapon, it still works)
-High Athletic, Attack,(if you're like me)Sneak, Your main attack skill, and your main defense skill. Fairly high attributes are reccomended too.

You will also need good exploration skills, because most ruins are hard to get to.

Lastly, and most IMPORTANT, BE READY FOR ANYTHING! I cannot stress enough walking into a ruin and finding those frigging red crystals that shoot spells at you. I HATE those! They are the only things that can still kill me, if there's enough of them.

Side note: Some of the ruins are leveled, but I can't tell, because my character is very high level. Any info would be appreciated.

How to get there
*****************
Vilverin- This one should be easy. The first ruin you see, on an island, when you leave the sewers.
Wenyandawik- Unerneath the capital 'R' in The Green Road on the map, or roughly WNW of Bravil.
Moranda- underneath the 'the' in The Orange Road on the map, or roughly NE of Chorrol.
Welke- In between the first fork in the Panther River.
Wendelbek- In between the two northerly jutting sections of the Panther.
Fanacas- Roughly north of Cheydinhal.
Mackementain- North of the lake that's north of the Silverfish River.
Nindenava- East of Sancre Tor.
Wendir- Roughly in between SW and SSW of Chorrol
Culotte- Above the 'T' in The Yellow Road on the map, or on the east shore of the Upper Niben.
Malada- This one is hard to get to. The heading is slightly south of East on your compass (about two of the lines). Start from Mackementain. It's high up in the Valus Mountains.
Nenelata- At the opening to the Panther River (not the Mouth of The Panther location)
Lindai- Roughly ENE of Weynon Priory.

What to do

Coming Soon! I will have full descriptions for every ruin in the next edition.

Special Quest Items
********************
The Special Ayleid Quest Items are: Ayleid Wall Panel (game's name for it) The Crown of Nenelata, and The Crown of Lindai. These items can only be obtained by doing the 'The Collector' quest with Umbacano. Note: to be able to display these items, you will need a Remove Quest tag mod,and you cannot own all three without some cheating ;), but it is possible and just for the sake of it I will tell you the console commands you need. Firstly, "coc testinghall" is what you'll need to acess the game's 'storage' room. BE WARNED, THIS CAN SEROUSLY F*** UP YOUR GAME. You'll need to rummage through a room that says 'a door to' on the warehouse wall in the testinghall. That room contains all the items in the game. These three items you CANNOT steal back from Umbacano after you give them to him. I decided to just keep the carving from Malada because it looks cooler. If you have Shivering Isles, I think that carving is the same as the Madness Shield Matrix model, but I'm not sure. It would make a much easier replacement if it was though. ;)

**********
The Quest
**********
To start the quest, you need to get an Ayleid Statue. When you have one, go to Umbacano Manor in Talos Plaza (imperial city) and speak to the butler. Everything from there should be straightforward. Use my guide if you need help in the Ayleid Ruins, but otherwise it should be O.K. (Little secret, to skip the entire quest, you can go to malada and use the console command, "tcl" to float past the stone door and take the panel, which will jump the quest up to that point, avoiding giving Umbacano your precious statues. BE WARNED, THIS ALSO CAN SERIOUSLY F*** UP YOUR GAME.) after you give him two Ayleid Statues, he will list four locations, (of which are already here) and once again tell you to go get them. Once you give him three, he'll ask you to get a carving in Malada. At that point, Claude Maric will offer you a drink. Typically, Bethsda made this guy evil (it was pretty obvious) and he tries to kill you once you get out of Malada. Be warned, both the ruin of Malada and the 'fellow treasure hunter' and his three freinds are extremely dangerous. After that, Umbacano will ask you to buy a crown off of Herminia Cinna in the Elven Gardens District. This is where you'll have to make choices. She'll tell you Umbacano is evil and you can give him a fake instead of the real one. This means you'll have to go into the Ayleid ruin of Lindai and get the crown from there. That's the 'hard' way. Then there's the easy way where you steal the crown from the lady's house and give it to Umbacano. Your choice. I have to tell you though, taking the easy way will affect your later game in a bad way. After that, Umbacano will ask you to take him to the Ayleid Ruin of Nenelata in three days. When you get to the throne room he'll recite some Ayleid chants, and either get fried if you give him the Lindai Crown, or (what I think because my game crashed when I tried to use the Nenelatan Crown) stay alive and gain magical powers or something. Either way you'll have to fight Nether Lichs (is it levelled? I don't know) but giving him the Lindai crown is obviously the easier thing to do. Afterward the crown he used will be broken, but it is then a non-quest item. Plus you could just repair it anyway.

Thank you to Jeremy Judkins, administrator of BetterOblivion.com for posting this on the website.

I can be reached in the BetterOblivion forums and at mooman2345@hotmail.com

This is kinda a WIP, I still need to tell you guys how to go through the ruins, but what the hell, can't be that hard.:]

Thanks for reading, hope it helps.

P.S. when you take the statue from Culotte, a horde of zombies will pop up in the ruin, and the bridge is broken, you'll either have to take the long way or jump across. Have Fun! :0
